Pandemic

This is a belated post, albeit necessary.

Pandemic. Yes, the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the new coronavirus as a pandemic for the first time on Wednesday (11 Mar 2020), adding that Italy and Iran were now on the frontline of the disease and other countries would soon join them. In fact, the number of affected countries has tripled and this number will be increase exponentially over the weeks to come. I reckon we have to be prepared for the worst, yet to come!

I believed the word 'pandemic' should not be used carelessly, and I understand WHO would have carefully assessed the current situation before making this declaration. If not, this would cause even more fear, unjustified panic and unnecessary suffering and death. But one thing for sure, we have never seen a pandemic sparked by a coronavirus. In fact, this should be the first pandemic caused by a coronavirus. So what's a pandemic? A pandemic is defined as an epidemic of disease that has spread over a large region, in this case, over multiple continents and worldwide, affecting a substantial number of people.

The way I see it, this is going to be a difficult year.
