A new lease of life. Abby is coming :)
As parents, we would want to create a secure, safe and loving environment as a family. And I believe that the fastest way for kids to learn, is to get them involved. Learn from failure. Learn from experience. Life is not perfect. We think simple. We want to expose Abby to nature and outdoor sports at a young age. I believe in leading by example, because kids will usually look up to their parents as their role models. We have no intention of giving her everything she want in life, and I would not constantly shadow her in life at the same time. Failure is a necessary evil, and we would want her to learn from failures. I believe that becoming a father will definitely changed my priorities in life, but that does not stop me from doing what I love, and what I believe. Show your children that anything is possible, if they put their mind and heart to it. Inspire them and support their aspirations at the same time. Abby may be too young to understand anything now, but we sincerely hope that she will learn to be motivated and disciplined in life. My wish is that she can be independent one day, cope with failures and fight through life's adversities.
We have been embracing a plant-based lifestyle (one of the best decisions ever in our lives!) for almost a decade now, thus our intention is to raise her up on a healthy plant-based diet at the same time. We know this is uncommon in Singapore, but I also strongly believe that compassion and empathy are core values that should be instilled at a young age. We want her to have fun in nature, get her hands dirty playing with soil in the vegetable farms, running up and down the mountains, engage in different physical activities and visiting animal sanctuaries. We will not shower her with toys, gifts and what not, but life lessons that she will remember for life. I hope that she will watch how both of us communicate and live our lives, and that she will grow up, learning how to love and be loved at the same time. We want Abby to grow up with the right values, develop her wisdom through mindfulness practice and eventually find her passion in life.
Of course, I am fortunate that I had met my wife, young, simple and understanding. I am also grateful that both of us are plant-based, and we have the same outlook in life. Thus, it is only natural that we decided to have a baby after marriage. And of course, we want to keep things simple. Sometimes life can be simple, and that is what we want for Abby :)
